Pine View Primary School (PS) is seeking to employ a Level 1 cleaner for a permanent part-time (0.25 FTE) position from the beginning of Term 2, 2023. This will be for afternoon shifts – 2 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
Ideally, the successful applicant will be a self-motivated and proactive person who is responsible for providing a high standard of cleanliness within the workplace, allowing you to take pride in providing a visually pleasing and safe learning environment for our students, staff and visitors to the school.
The Cleaner will carry out internal cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting, and rubbish removal. They will perform external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, rubbish removal, cleaning of drinking troughs, window cleaning, and removal of cobwebs. They will also complete vacation cleaning duties, including, window cleaning, shampooing of carpets, pressure cleaning of verandas and undercover areas, and other such duties as required by the Cleaner-In-Charge.
Having a sound knowledge of cleaning equipment and sage cleaning procedures, methods and practices to ensure the facilities are kept to the highest standard of cleanliness and safety is highly regarded.
The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effective communication skills are components of this role.
Pine View PS is located in the growing suburb of Baldivis, surrounded by rapidly developing housing estates with many young families. The school consists of an administration block, a library resource centre which contains the staff room, an early childhood block, four learning blocks, one of which has an Art/Science room, a covered assembly area, canteen and a music room. There is also a multi-purpose playing court, junior football oval and cricket practice nets which provide a pleasant and inviting environment. To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Ability to read and apply Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment operating instructions, safety instructions and training guidelines.
- Knowledge of, and ability to, use cleaning equipment including polishers, vacuum cleaners and pressure cleaners.
- Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions and work as a member of a team.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
And complete the Department’s:
- Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- induction program within three months of commencement
- online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within three months of commencement
- Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable
- training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
