Southern River College (SRC) is seeking a highly motivated and ideally experienced Home Economics teacher committed to achieving outstanding educational outcomes for all students in our culturally diverse school.

The successful applicant will ideally be a passionate and dedicated educator who is highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. They should provide students with purposeful and engaging learning experiences to develop student skills, knowledge and understandings related to Home Economics.

You will ideally have strong teaching and classroom management skills, and able to develop good relationships with students and engage them in highly effective learning. The successful applicant will preferably have experience teaching across a range of Home Economics subject areas. Holding or working towards completing a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment in Certificate II in Hospitality will be highly regarded. There is possible FTE negotiation for the successful applicant.

It is highly desirable that the successful applicant be committed to developing positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community. You should exhibit the ability to reflect on the effectiveness of their teaching and work in a collaborative way with other staff to improve their teaching practice through peer observation, performance management and Professional Learning Communities.

Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
