About the role
As an English Teacher you will participate as an integral member of the English learning area and be responsible for supporting the collaborative approach to curriculum planning, providing learning programs to students suited to the needs of the school community and modelling exemplary teaching and learning strategies in your delivery. As such, successful applicants will ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics.
Successful applicants will be dedicated and highly motivated educators with excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum, deliver content in an engaging manner and be highly effective team members. As a reflective practitioner, successful applicants will possess effective data literacy and a capacity to modify their practice to meet identified student needs. The capacity to engage in the development and implementation of innovative classroom practices, including integration of information technology into the curriculum, will be highly regarded.
The successful applicant will ideally be highly effective in engaging and motivating students and managing an appropriate learning environment. They should also possess superior interpersonal skills and work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for our students. The successful applicant will work as part of a dedicated team to develop, review and deliver English curriculum, ideally having strong experience with differentiation for all students.
Suitable applicants should have the ability to work collaboratively to plan and implement effective teaching and learning plans. Applicants will ideally provide excellence in creating and maintaining supportive and safe learning environment and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. The ability to adapt with and utilise technology within the English learning area would be highly regarded.

Busselton SHS is situated in a coastal town in the South West of Western Australia. The school was established in 1958 and has served the community for over 60 years. Busselton SHS has a proud history with fine traditions in place, created by the various student bodies over time, along with a loyal, dedicated staff. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
