This is a permanent part-time (0.5FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2023. 

Cooloongup Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a Primary Teacher who can provide the Noongar Language and culture program within our school.

This role will suit someone who is highly motivated, relationship-focused, and passionate about creating exciting learning experiences to ignite a desire to learn in students. The successful applicant will ideally possess strong interpersonal skills and able to work as part of a team and display high levels of professional conduct, communication, and integrity.

The Cooloongup PS community is both diverse and inclusive, with all students encouraged to thrive at school. We offer an on-site specialised learning program (SLP) for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with a dedicated team of highly trained teachers and special needs education assistants. The program offers opportunities for targeted approaches for students with autism, whilst also offering integration within a mainstream setting.

In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered, though untrained teachers are still encouraged to apply. Where there are no suitable applicants with teaching qualifications, applicants without teaching qualifications may be considered.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
