Comet Bay College is seeking to appoint a passionate and dynamic Health and Physical Education (HPE) Teacher to join our incredible team.
The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to work across Years 7 – 12 and bring their expertise and flair to the Learning Area. Experience in teaching Senior School Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) HPE to help our students achieve outstanding results will be an advantage.
Comet Bay College has introduced a new Positive Culture period for all year 7 to 9 students and the successful applicant will take a leadership role within this program. Experience in developing and running team and positive relationship building activities is highly desirable.
The successful applicant should be student and relationship focused, highly motivated, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as possessing an engaging and energetic teaching style.

Comet Bay College has a genuine and proven commitment to support the professional growth of our teachers. Each staff member has the opportunity to join the Advanced Instructional Intelligence Program (AIIP) and be provided with five days of professional learning to build teachers capacity in the classroom.
The College also encourages and supports staff to participate in a sophisticated Classroom Observation and Feedback Program that supports staff to reflect on their instructional capacity and build upon existing teaching skills. Comet Bay College is a modern, innovative Independent Public School that caters for approximately 1680 Years 7-12 students and is located one kilometre from the coast in the vibrant community of Secret Harbour. The College boasts state of the art facilities that include specialist science laboratories, lecture theatre, fitness centre, metal fabrication centre, modern industrial food studio and graphics/mechatronics studio.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
