Appointment Pool
Are you a creative, skilled and nurturing early childhood specialist teacher with a commitment to consistent and connected practice in a positive school culture?
Hilton Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Early Childhood Education Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2024.
Hilton PS is seeking creative and skilled Early Childhood Teachers with excellent interpersonal skills and a growth mindset. Suitable applicants should be excited about teaching, from Kindergarten (K) to Year 3. At Hilton PS, all of our K-2 teachers are Early Childhood specialist teachers. Please note that successful applicants may be required to teach in Kindergarten, Pre Primary (PP) &/or Year 1-2-3 classes. Teachers at Hilton PS are committed to our positive school culture, collegiality and further school improvement. They create a nurturing learning environment, engage children in learning and cater for diverse needs.
At Hilton PS, “Every child’s learning is nurtured every day.” Our strategic plan, called our Plan for Growth 2021-2024, is based on the values of Community, Care, Inclusivity, Creativity and Sustainability. Our three focus areas are: Excellence in teaching and learning; Positive Partnerships; and A great place to learn and grow. All Hilton PS teaching staff are contributing to the development of consistent and connected practice with attention to lesson design and data based planning. Hilton staff are also committed to whole school CMS (Classroom Management Strategies) and PBS (Positive Behaviour Support).
Since our successful Public School Review in 2022, Hilton PS staff are continuing to reflect on, and refine, our daily Literacy and Numeracy teaching blocks. We teach structured, synthetic phonics, with Letters & Sounds resources. Our K-PP and Years 1-2, Phase of Learning teams are currently reviewing the intentional teaching of oral language, reading and purposeful writing. We access Origo maths with a strong focus on the use of manipulatives to apply mathematical thinking. We continuously review our philosophy and practice of balancing play-based learning with intentional teaching. We are currently reviewing ways to communicate our differentiated teaching to our Hilton families.
In addition to the strong representation of First Nations people, Hilton PS includes 17 other language groups, predominantly German and French speaking families. We host German, French and English speaking playgroups weekly, and an Aboriginal Families group at various times.
We currently have more than 340 students, from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our student growth is particularly strong in the Early Childhood classes. We are well supported by a very cohesive, supportive community, on spacious grounds. We enjoy beautiful outdoor classrooms: “Everything we can teach inside a classroom, we can teach outside.”
