Teachers and school administrators employed at Burringurrah Remote Community School in 2023 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $5,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
About the role
The successful applicant will ideally be a passionate, motivated, and skilled educator who is committed to improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for every child, every day, through our whole school approaches, explicit teaching, and instructional strategies.
We are seeking an applicant who is innovative and possess high quality teaching skills and knowledge. They will ideally be committed to ongoing professional growth and development, support current whole school processes and be collegial, effective collaborators.
It is highly desirable that the successful applicant is committed to developing positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the wider community. They should possess a strong capacity to plan challenging and engaging programs using an excellent understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum.
Our school
Burringurrah RCS is situated approximately 480kms east of Carnarvon and 310kms north-west of Meekatharra and is located within the registered Wajarri Yamatji Native Title claim area. It currently caters for approximately 41 students ranging from Years K- 12. A specialised team of early childhood teaching staff, experienced remote community staff and an experienced team of Aboriginal Education Officers provide children with an engaging and culturally rich learning environment.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
