Are you a creative and enthusiastic LOTE Teacher who is excited by the opportunity to introduce AUSLAN to our school?
Hilton Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a creative and enthusiastic AUSLAN (Australian Sign Language) Teacher, with excellent interpersonal skills and a growth mindset. We are ideally seeking someone with a AUSLAN teaching experience to enhance our LOTE (Languages Other Than English) program at Hilton PS. Currently, AUSLAN is taught to Years 1 to 6. This may change to include Kindergarten and Pre Primary classes as our school continues to grow and develop. We aspire to the functional use of AUSLAN across school contexts as we continue to use online AUSLAN teaching resources.
We welcome applications from enthusiastic LOTE teachers, who ideally will be innovative in raising the profile of AUSLAN across the school and community. Ideally, our permanent AUSLAN teacher will enhance AUSLAN use by our staff, families and our children. As a teacher at Hilton PS, you should display commitment to our positive school culture, collegiality and further school improvement. You should engage children in learning, cater for diverse needs and create a nurturing learning environment.
At Hilton PS, “Every child’s learning is nurtured every day”. Our strategic plan, our Plan for Growth 2021-2024, includes the values of Community, Care, Inclusivity, Creativity and Sustainability. Our three focus areas will be: Excellence in teaching and learning; Positive Partnerships; and A great place to learn and grow. In 2023 all teaching staff are contributing to the development of consistent and connected practice with attention to lesson design and data based planning. Hilton staff are also committed to whole school CMS (Classroom Management Strategies) and PBS (Positive Behaviour Support).
In addition to the strong representation of First Nations people, Hilton PS includes 17 other language groups, predominantly German and French speaking families. We host German, French and English speaking playgroups weekly, and an Aboriginal Families group at various times.
We currently have more than 340 students, from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our student growth is particularly strong in the Early Childhood classes. We are well supported by a very cohesive, supportive community on spacious grounds. We enjoy beautiful outdoor classrooms.
