Appointment Pool
Ocean Reef Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Home Economics Assistants for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2024.
The role of the Home Economics Assistant will include assisting teachers in the delivery of planned educational programs through the organisation of required resources and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials and resources for use in both Food and Child Development classes. You will also undertake regular cleaning activities as directed. Computer literacy is highly desirable.
As the Home Economics Assistant, the suitable applicants should have a proactive, positive approach to the role and will ideally be able to work well autonomously as well as part of a team. Suitable applicants should be able to prioritise tasks well, follow processes and protocols required by the Learning Area as well as demonstrate initiative in their tasks and will ideally be highly organised and efficient.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
