Bakers Hill Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and passionate Deputy Principal who will work to form positive partnerships with staff, students, and families and who is deeply committed to understanding the needs of each child to help them reach their potential.
About the Role
The successful applicant will be a strong and responsive leader, highly motivated and innovative, with strengths in the development of whole school curriculum and student engagement, as well as a high level of organisational skills to work with our team to incorporate strategic intent into operational plans, which maximise student engagement and promotes continued progress and achievement.
Individuals who possess excellent interpersonal skills and have proven success in building and maintaining strong professional relationships with staff, students, parents, networks, and the wider school community will be highly regarded. As an effective leader you will bring skills working in a collaborative team structure that supports and builds a distributed leadership model.
The Deputy Principal position will contribute to the development and implementation of the school plan through participative decision making, including identifying priorities, developing policy and the establishment and maintenance of operational systems. Our school seeks an applicant who sets high expectations of self and others and is looking for opportunity to help build a strong collegiate culture.
The Deputy Principal position is integral to our focus on implementing data analysis and evidence-based planning to improve outcomes and inform consistent evidence-based teaching practices across the school. Sound knowledge of best practice in Literacy and/or Numeracy, an early years education focus or specialisations in Science/STEM and/or PE will be highly regarded.
As a key member of the Executive Team the successful applicant will a strategic thinker who can contribute to whole of school initiatives while also have the knowledge and experience necessary to support staff in the planning, teaching, monitoring and assessment cycle.
The successful applicant should be highly capable in leading teaching and learning and have excellent professional understanding to plan for ongoing school improvement. Utilising these skills, you will work with the school leadership team to build positive school culture and to lead and manage sustainable change and improvement. This position will have a teaching component which provides opportunity to model best practice and effective strategies while working collaboratively with teaching and support staff.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
