Financial Services is seeking to establish a pool of Senior Finance Consultants - School Support for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2023 and up to the end of June 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2023 up to the end of June 2024.

The Role and our Branch

The Finance and Commercial Services Division of Education Business Services (EBS) is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Senior Finance Consultant School Support in the Financial Services directorate (or School Financial Management and Support branch).

A Senior Finance Consultant School Support assists with the coordination and delivery of consultancy services to schools. You will provide contemporary training, support and advice to schools on complex financial matters relating to Departmental financial management policies and procedures using a variety of communication styles and technology platforms.

The successful applicant will maintain an expert awareness of contemporary finance trends, issues and methodologies related to financial management in schools. In this role the Senior Finance Consultant School Support will prepare, monitor and review schools’ financial management and assist in intervention plans in collaboration with principals, central and regional office staff members.

EBS is the key provider of professional business services and support for Western Australian public schools, statutory boards and divisions of the Department. These highly valued services are delivered through the areas of finance, information communication and technologies (ICT), and infrastructure. We continually strive to enhance the capability and responsiveness of our staff, systems and processes across the organisation to deliver high quality education.

The School Financial Management and Support Branch is part of the Financial Services Directorate and are responsible for the provision of support to schools on all transactional and technical financial matters as well as finance policy support. The Branch will also have the responsibility for coordinating the schools’ financial systems and for providing training as required.

  • hold relevant tertiary qualification in business, commerce, finance or related field or equivalent substantial experience
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
  • complete
    • the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
    • training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
    • the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
