Asset Planning and Services are seeking to establish a pool of Training Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2023.

The Role and our Branch

The Asset Planning and Services Branch is seeking experienced and engaging Training Officers to join our awesome training team.

A background in the delivery of gardening or cleaning workshops, and a passion for sustainability, is highly desirable but not essential.

The Asset Planning and Services Directorate is responsible for the development of strategic asset plans, policies and processes within an asset planning framework, long term land planning for schools and the management of the Department’s land estate. The Directorate also provides services to schools on security and emergency management, environmental services, statistical and demographic planning services and property management.

Suitable applicants will deliver workforce training programs that align with department and legislative requirements. You will work collaboratively with the training team and key stakeholders to ensure the learning outcomes reflect the skills and knowledge required of today’s workforce. You will also conduct training needs analysis to identify competency gaps and provide evidence-based recommendations to enhance program effectiveness and the translation of learning to practice.

You will contribute to a work environment that is safe, fosters equity and diversity, enables the achievement of personal and Education Business Services (EBS) goals and facilitates accomplishment of designated roles and deliverables. As Training Officer, you will ensure compliance with the departments policies, procedures and standards.

  5. Demonstrated skills and experience in using Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook) and learning management systems.

Eligibility and Training Requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
  • hold a current Western Australian ‘C’ Class drivers licence
  • undertake travel to regional and remote areas to deliver training programs
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
  • hold a current Certificate IV qualification in adult training and assessment, or be actively working towards
  • complete
    • the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
    • training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
    • the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
