Bridgetown High School (HS) and Boyup Brook District High School (DHS) are seeking a motivated, creative Music – The Arts – Teacher to join their friendly team.

We currently have the following position available:

  • Two (2) x – permanent part time position (0.4FTE Boyup Brook DHS & 0.4FTE Bridgetown HS)

Both positions will commence (Term 2, 2023)

This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced and proficient Teacher of the Arts to teach at two of the South West most desirable locations. Boyup Brook DHS and Bridgetown HS are seeking a motivated and skilled teacher to work across both locations in a permanent position.

Ideally, the successful applicant would possess the ability to teach in the Music and Visual Arts contexts of the Arts and would be placed for two full days at each school, thus limiting travel between the two geographically close schools. Applicants that have skills in Music and other arts contexts may be considered and there is a possibility of a full-time position for a flexible and accomplished applicant. At Bridgetown High School the successful applicant would be required to work across Years 7 – 10. At Boyup Brook DHS, the position requires a skillset applicable to Pre- Primary to Year 10.

The towns of Boyup Brook and Bridgetown are vibrant communities in the heart of the South West of WA, located approximately 25 minutes driving time apart. Their communities have much to offer staff in terms of recreation and sporting activities and are conveniently located to allow for day trips to the Geographe and Great Southern coasts and wine regions and the many attractions these areas have to offer. The towns host a number of well known events during the year such as the Boyup Brook Country Music Festival: The Blues at Bridgetown and the Blackwood Marathon.

Bridgetown HS is located 270km south of Perth on the Blackwood River in the South West region of Western Australia and proudly meets the needs of local students in Years 7 to 10.

Our students are encouraged to become responsible learners within the school and be active participants in many of the school's decision-making processes. We focus on developing their critical and creative thinking skills, as well as their problem-solving skills, to became active and informed citizens of the future.

Boyup Brook is situated in the South West of Western Australia approximately 270km from Perth.

Boyup Brook DHS is a level 5 district high school catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 10 with students moving on to other schools for the Year 11/12 component of their secondary education. Students are drawn from families that are involved in farming, viticulture and local business.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
