Ellenbrook Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) teacher to join our friendly team.
In addition to the full-time permanent position available, an additional permanent teacher may be required, FTE and start date to be negotiated.
Ellenbrook SC is located in the suburb of Ellenbrook, approximately 40 minutes north of Perth. It has a unique combination of country and city life, with the benefits and resources of both. The successful applicant will ideally have the capacity to contribute to an effective team that collaborates with, and supports one another, and must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with students, parents/caregivers and staff. You would ideally be highly motivated, student and relationship focused and able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning experiences. To be successful, you will ideally exhibit the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school Humanities and Social Sciences curriculum. Experience in teaching ATAR Economics and/or ATAR Business Management and Enterprise is desirable, but not essential.
You should have high expectations for all students, provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their potential and display a commitment to excellence. You should be highly proficient in motivating and engaging students, and promoting a positive, active learning environment.
The HASS learning area develops many enriching learning experiences for its students including excursions, incursions and competitions. We seek a teacher who can contribute to these enriched learning experiences by turning their creative ideas into learning experiences.
Literacy is a key educational focus at the College. We are seeking a staff member who has highly developed skills and an eye for detail in teaching and modelling literacy proficiency to students. The Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework is incorporated into HASS teaching and learning to provide an inclusive learning environment. Having experience in inclusive teaching practice is essential.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
