We are looking for passionate individuals to make a valuable addition to our collegiate teaching team in this rewarding role.

This role will suit applicants who are highly motivated, student and relationship focused and able to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful academic and pastoral care learning experiences. Suitable applicants are encouraged to share their experiences and strengths as these will inform appointments from this pool.

We are looking for applicants who can develop a supportive and positive learning environment, possess high level interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment. Suitable applicants will ideally elicit positive student behaviour using a positive behaviour in schools (PBS) approach. They should have a commitment to inclusive education and a strategic approach in planning for improved student outcomes including the use of data.

Our School

Dongara DHS is a proud Independent Public School in the Mid-West Education Region, located in one of the most desirable coastal locations in Western Australia.

Our academic programs are supported by a very high standard of delivery, and we offer our students the opportunity to participate in extension programs using online learning through the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) for Year 11 and 12 and on-site delivery of Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) in Geraldton for Year 4 to Year 6. Year 7 students are provided with a comprehensive transition program in readiness for entering secondary school. We have a partnership with tertiary institutions through the ASPIRE program which supports our academic Year 9 to Year 11 students to identify university pathways.

There is a high level of parent involvement in the school. Regular P & C meetings are made up of a core of enthusiastic and committed parents. A pro-active unincorporated School Board plays a vital role in the formulation of the school vision, goals and policies and monitors the operation and outcomes of the School Business Plan.

The Recruitment Process

This is an open pool recruitment process for permanent and fixed term, full time and part time opportunities that may arise during the 2023 school year. We do, however, have regular intakes where our selection panel convene to assess new applications.

You are encouraged to use the intake deadlines below as a guide for submitting your application, depending on your preferred commencement date if you are successful.

New, completed applications received by midnight on the above dates will be reviewed by the selection panel for each intake.

We will also consider an internal secondment opportunity for permanent teachers in other locations within the Department of Education who would like to work at our school for up to three years and retain their substantive position.
