This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2023.

Challis Community Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a reliable, dedicated and organised Administrative Support Coordinator to manage the daily operations relating to the management and maintenance of the school grounds, buildings and amenities.

The successful applicant will ideally be flexible and highly organised, have excellent communication skills, and the ability to use initiative. They will ideally be enthusiastic and display sound team management and supervisory skills, including the ability to motivate and develop staff.

In this role you will coordinate the daily operations relating to the management and maintenance of school grounds and amenities and liaise with contractors and tradespersons, where required.

You should have a clear understanding of all aspects of primary school operations, finance, assets, and maintenance. You will be responsible for researching, making recommendations, coordinating the acquisition, deployment and recording the acquisition of assets relating to the school grounds, building and amenities.

You will also be responsible for the management of the front office staff. Experience in a school setting will be advantageous.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Considerable experience providing input and effective support to the development, management, implementation and monitoring of business operations, systems and plans.
  • Well developed financial management skills, including data analysis, interpretation and reporting, and the ability to provide recommendations.
  • Sound ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of school buildings, grounds and facilities and the ability to investigate funding opportunities.
  • Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Sound conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to identify appropriate solutions.

  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within 6 months of appointment;
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
