Kinross College will expand to commence its first Year 11 cohort in 2024 and Year 12 in 2025 and we are now looking to add additional staff eager and enthusiastic to help shape this new era for the college. As part of that development, we are seeking to appoint a passionate and innovative Dance Teacher for a permanent position commencing in Term 2, 2023. The successful candidate should be responsive to change and cater for the learning styles of future ready students. You will be responsible for the Dance program in our school and should have a proven ability to facilitate the development of independent and confident learners and be willing to join our team of like-minded professionals.
The College offers a variety of high-performance programs for students to develop their talents and engage and increase engagement such as - Basketball, Soccer, Netball specialist programs and Aviation Studies. The Harry Potter themed room supports and extends student literacy and problem solving capacities via a variety of classes and courses.
As a teacher at Kinross College, you will work as part of a dedicated team and have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the College community. The successful applicant should be flexible, creative, and forward thinking, and exhibit their passion for Dance. They will ideally be confident in teaching students across Years 7 to 12 with particular focus on providing relevant and engaging courses linking to the Western Australian Curriculum. The successful applicant should have high expectations, and display a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment. They should also be flexible and adaptive and be able to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching. They will ideally also be able to incorporate current and emerging technologies to best meet the needs of our students based on researched informed practice.
With ideally effective interpersonal skills, and a willingness to adopt a ‘restorative’ approach, suitable applicants will work with students, teachers, and the community to instil our school values, allowing students to achieve their full potential.
The expanding enrolment numbers over recent years indicate the numerous specialist academic and sporting programs offered by the school are resulting in the College becoming a highly preferred public school option. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
