This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2023
As the Canteen Supervisor you will manage the operations of the school canteen, including supervising staff, sales, stock control, operating a till and eftpos machine and compliance. You will report to the Manager Corporate Services. Compliance must be meet with the Occupational safety and health (OSH) and cleaning standards.
You will also supervise three canteen assistants and prepare food for approximately 1200 students for two lunch breaks. We are seeking someone who has good customer service skills, is organised, a team player and possesses leadership skills. Ideally you will have an understanding of the food traffic light system and a passion for cooking.
The successful applicant to be passionate about cooking, have experience working in the cooking industry with a friendly and approachable manner. It is important the successful applicant focuses on presentation and quality of food produced in the school canteen.
Please note the position is 7.00 am to 3.30 pm five days week.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Knowledge of food hygiene practices and relevant Occupational Safety and Health Regulations.
- Skills and experience in the management of a school/college canteen, commercial or similar service environment.
- Skills and experience in coordinating and supervising staff.
- Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to plan and deliver a high standard of food delivery practice.
- Well-developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external clients

Eligibility and Training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
