Eastern Hills Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Home Economics Teacher to their committed team. Experience with delivering Children, Family and Community, Food Science and Technology and lower school Food classes will be advantageous.
The successful applicant should be a passionate teacher of Home Economics, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. As a Home Economics teacher, you will be able to utilise a variety of skills to provide integrated, personalised and engaging learning experiences for all students.
The successful applicant will be joining a progressive and enthusiastic team that is engaged in delivering rich, engaging and challenging educational programs to a diverse student cohort. The successful applicant will ideally be highly motivated, student and relationship focused and able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning experiences. You should utilise innovative strategies and be able to work effectively within a dynamic team. This will involve you reflecting and assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and cultivating a safe learning environment. You will ideally utilise evidence based teaching practices whilst employing a range of assessment and reporting methods.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally be student and relationship focused, goal focused, innovative and have an ability to work effectively in a team environment. With effective interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills, you will be working closely with students, parents and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. As part of your standard practice, you will reflect on and assess the effectiveness of your teaching practices and promote an environment of active and positive learning and collaboration. You will provide relevant and engaging educational opportunities and activities that will enable students to achieve to the highest of their potential. Creating and promoting an environment conducive to active and positive learning and which caters for different student learning needs, is crucial to the role. In addition, the ability to engage students using a range of instructional approaches, knowledge of effective classroom management strategies and restorative practices will be considered favourably.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
