This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2023 

Melville Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a motivated and dedicated Vocational Education and Training and Workplace Learning Coordinator to join their friendly team.

Working within our Career and Vocational Education team, the Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Workplace Learning Coordinator should have the ability to support students in the workplace, and secure placements with existing and new workplace partners. The successful applicant will co-ordinate student enrolments into TAFE (Technical and Further Education) cert courses/private Registered Training Organisations, and have a thorough understanding of excel to provide detailed reports for enrolments purposes to meet SCSA (School Curriculum and Standards Authority) compliance. Working collaboratively with VET staff the ideal applicant should to be flexible and show initiative in supporting students from diverse backgrounds to improve student outcomes. Experience with Research Training Program (RTP) Work Placements, RTP VET and Registered Training Organisations including timelines would be an advantage.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Skills and experience in developing, implementing and evaluating VET/WPL programs.
  • Well developed written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports.
  • Well developed oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with individuals at all levels, facilitate school/industry partnerships and work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Well developed organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and identify priorities.

  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
