Join our supportive network of remote school campuses to teach within a committed team of cross-cultural educators.
We are looking for committed and culturally responsive teachers to fill a range of immediate vacancies in Early Childhood Education, Primary, Secondary and full-time relief teaching. Please include your preference in your application.
Placement in the pool will also enable you to be considered for fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies that will become available prior to the end of 2023.

Full-time Relief Teacher
- Fulltime relief teachers work across all campuses but have a home-base and the opportunity to work within a supportive cross-school team.
Generalist teachers and those seeking relief or support teaching roles are encouraged to apply. We will also consider short term appointments to support specific programs across our campuses.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Ngaanyatjarra Lands School in 2023 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $5,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

A range of staff from across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands School, including senior Aboriginal school leaders, will provide information about the experience of living and teaching in some of the most remote schools in Australia. This is an opportunity to have your questions answered and feel confident to make an informed decision to become a remote Aboriginal teacher with the Ngaanyatjarra Lands School.

How to Apply
This is a two-step selection process.
You will need to demonstrate your competency to teach Aboriginal, EAL/D learners against the criteria related to working in a remote school and the Professional Domains from the AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
- Professional Knowledge – Know your students and how they learn
- Professional Practice – Know the content and how to teach it
- Professional Engagement - Engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the community
Step 1
Complete the attached Written Statement Template and prepare a CV. Your CV should have details of your training and work history relevant to the position you’re applying for, and the contact details of two (2) professional referees who can comment on the claims made in your documents. It’s preferred if one is your current line manager. Referees may be contacted at this stage to validate information provided in your documents.
Step 2
A selection panel will review and assess the information provided in your CV and Written Statement. If you are competitive, you will be invited to an online interview.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
