About the role
Exmouth District High School (DHS) is seeking a vibrant, innovative, and dedicated English and Performing Arts teacher who is culturally responsive and aware, willing to embed high-quality teaching and learning into their classroom practices, while value-adding to our existing programs.
There may be an increase in FTE during the 2023 school year.
For this role, Exmouth DHS is seeking a teacher with experience in successfully delivering English and one or more Performing Arts contexts (Drama, Dance) to 21st century learners, across the early and middle adolescent phases of learning.
The successful applicant will ideally possess an interpersonal skill set that enables them to build genuine relationships with students, staff and parents, demonstrate strategies that improve student engagement, leading to positive student outcomes in and out of the classroom. Suitable applicants should be able to display an interest, or have experience, working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and English as an additional language or dialect EALD students, coupled with effective use of purposeful and integrated use of digital technology, to address digital technology student outcomes.
Our school
Exmouth DHS is a proudly Independent Public School with approximately 460 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. We are committed to providing the best possible education for the children of our community and are charged with preparing our students for a diverse range of futures. Successful applicants would join a team of 35 teaching staff and 25 support staff.
Exmouth is a coastal community of situated in the remote North West of Western Australia. Located about 1250km north of Perth, 850km north of the large regional city of Geraldton and 550km south west of the Pilbara mining operations in Karratha, we are surrounded by Cape Range National Park and are the gateway to the unique Ningaloo Reef, recently listed as a World Heritage site. There is a permanent population of approximately 3,500 people which swells to thousands more during peak tourist periods. Due to the number of tourists visiting Exmouth the town has many amenities which would not normally be expected in a town of its size.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
