Cecil Andrews College is seeking two (2) enthusiastic and registered School Psychologists to join their friendly team.
We currently have the following positions available:
- 1 x - permanent full-time position
- 1 x - permanent part-time (0.4FTE) position
All positions will commence ASAP.
At Cecil Andrews College we provide a high level of support to our students. The successful applicant will provide specialist psychological assessment, diagnosis, intervention and consultation services. As the School Psychologist you will be responsible for delivering direct, evidence-based psychological services to our year 7-12 students to improve outcomes in mental health and well-being, learning and behaviour. Ideally, you will possess strong interpersonal skills and effectively collaborate with staff, parents, caregivers and other agencies. Knowledge and experience in working with staff to support students with disabilities in regard to disability resourcing and special provisions is also highly desirable.
The successful applicant will be required to work closely with Student Services and our Executive Team to support the collaborative development of plans to support students and improve their educational and psycho-social outcomes. You would also work with our administrators to provide emergency and critical incident management support and professional learning for school staff, parents and caregivers.
Cecil Andrews College provides exemplary education to children from Year 7 to Year 12. We provide programs to support a wide range of students, fostering pathways to university, TAFE, further training, and the work place. The college is well resourced and the commitment to fostering meaningful development opportunities between students, staff, and the community is well known and acknowledged within the district. In Mathematics there is growth in ATAR and Senior School courses being offered which provides potential opportunities for the successful applicant.
Special programs in Science, Technology, Mathematics and Engineering (STEM), Australian Rules Football, and the Performing Arts provide talented children with unique pathways for success.
Our academic extension program is also setting new standards for the area and specially trained teachers are creating challenging learning opportunities so each child can meet their potential and become successful in their field of endeavour.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Ability to implement school psychology services and programs in an educational environment to maximise student learning outcomes.
- Knowledge of the implementation and evaluation of a variety of psychological approaches appropriate for individual, group and system-level intervention.
- High level written and oral communication skills, demonstrating the capacity to produce correspondence, reports and case notes, and interview and training (facilitation) skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, which demonstrate an ability to function in a self-directed way, and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with a range of clients across the lifespan, Department personnel and inter-agency partners across a variety of contexts.
- Ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment and analysis, intervention and evaluation.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- hold or be eligible for provisional or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
