Clarkson Community High School is seeking to appoint a highly reflective and motivated leader in Vocational Education and Training. This person will work to ensure all students can access challenging and engaging VET programs that support students in developing the knowledge, skills, and understandings necessary for them to have agency, and experience success, in their post-secondary lives. Clarkson CHS is embarking on an ambitious period of transformation and is looking for a leader who can bring their experience and enthusiasm to support this cultural growth.
The VET Coordinator will provide educational leadership in the delivery and development of VET and work placement programs within the school and wider community. The successful applicant will lead a highly committed and dedicated team and will build on the school’s current VET offerings to further meet industry needs for students to leave school with the necessary skills, knowledge, and training for now and into the future. They will also develop partnerships that expand the range of opportunities already on offer and build the positive profile of the school. The ability to deliver a certificate course would be viewed favourably.
Strong organisational skills and extensive knowledge of career pathways, WACE requirements; in particular VET pathways and current industry requirements is vital for this role. An understanding of the local community context is an advantage. The successful applicant will be responsible oversight of VET and Endorsed course enrolments, resulting, compliance and meeting of deadlines with SCSA, RTOs and school wide processes. In addition, the successful applicant will provide leadership and support the performance of teachers in relation to VET programs.
The ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a whole school setting and working as part of a senior leadership team, are essential requirements of the role.
Clarkson Community High School provides high-quality education to approximately 350 students in Years 7 to 12. We have high-quality teaching and a curriculum that engage and extend students. We have approximately 50 staff who are dedicated in helping students achieve their best and make the most of their education.
Clarkson Community High School has a high level of technology integrated across all areas of the school, including Apple MacBook computers for students throughout the school, an industry-standard commercial training kitchen and industry training programs within faculties.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
