Geraldton Senior High School is seeking to appoint an energetic and motivated individual to fill the role of Marketing and Media Officer and join their friendly team
The Marketing and Media Officer is responsible for the effective and efficient management of marketing and communications throughout the school community. They will provide operational support in the development, implementation and management of the school’s marketing plan and coordinate promotional events and marketing activities.
The successful applicant will be proactive and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment, particularly within the Executive team. They will work closely with the Principal to ensure a media and marketing community engagement strategy is developed and implemented. They will need to be able to hold a knowledge of social media platforms and the ability to actively seek out new opportunities to increase the reach of online communications within our school community. This includes managing the school's website, newsletter, and communications across a number of channels to be contemporary, user friendly and culturally responsive.

Geraldton SHS has a long and well-documented history having commenced in 1939. Since then, it has been at the forefront of providing quality secondary education to students from all over Western Australia in the Midwest Region.
Located next to the city centre in a parkland environment, the school is an architectural highlight of Geraldton. It caters for students in Years 7 to 12 and offers a diverse range of academic, vocational, social and service programs for its student population of around 1000 students.
Students attending the school come from Geraldton plus surrounding towns and farming regions. The student population represents the multicultural nature of Geraldton with many students from Aboriginal or Cocos Island communities. Students can board at the adjacent Geraldton Residential College. The school is served by an extensive local bus service.
Geraldton SHS is highly regarded within the Geraldton community. Meaningful relationships between staff, students and families are considered vital to the ongoing success of the school.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Experience in assisting with coordination of events and marketing activities and associated financial management and budgeting requirements.
- Initiative and organisational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers.
- Sound conceptual, analytical and research skills, including the ability to identify appropriate solutions.
- Well-developed computer application skills.

ELIGIBILITY and TRAINING requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
