Appointment Pool
Sevenoaks Senior College (SC) is seeking to establish a pool of motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Student Support Coordinators for appointments to permanent, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
The role of the Student Support Coordinator will be to help develop systems that provide a responsive and effective youth support service for students, staff and family members. Suitable applicants will provide professional links between the College and various public and private sector organisations and agencies to enhance the support for our young adults. Ideally the Student Support Coordinator will possess the skills and experience to work with young people who present at the College with complex issues they are trying to manage along with their studies.
To be suitable in this role, you should have a high level of communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and autonomously and possess skills in conflict resolution and negotiation. Strong networking skills and the ability to problem solve and be responsive to difficult dilemmas are key to performing this role.
Sevenoaks SC presents a modern and practical approach to senior schooling in Western Australia. The college cater for up to 550 students and our programs attract students from across the metropolitan area. We are also a local school for students from Yule Brook College and Cannington Community College.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Well-developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, negotiate and resolve conflict.
- Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Well-developed research, conceptual and analytical skills and experience in identifying problems and developing appropriate intervention strategies and support programs.
- Skills and experience in working with individual or small groups of students who are experiencing difficulties.
- Knowledge of the youth sector, particularly local organisations and services

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- possess a Tertiary qualification in the Social or Behavioural Science area
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
