Canning Vale Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking a Teacher – Education Support to join our dynamic team.
The successful applicant should be motivated, compassionate, flexible and highly organised. In this position it is desirable that you are familiar with, or willing to learn, strategies and use of evidence based programs such as Applied Behaviour Analysis, Direct Instruction, Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication related Handicapped Children (TEACCH), task analysis and the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to work effectively with our diverse range of students.
Highly developed classroom management skills are desirable to create the safe and caring environments required for optimal learning to take place, as is the use of collaborative planning to support targeted and sustainable behaviour interventions.
Proficiency in the use of assessment to identify ability, interests, progress, and areas for development is important as is the ability to develop plans and programs aligned with identified individualised student outcomes. The successful applicant should possess outstanding communication skills and display strong leadership within the classroom and wider community.
Canning Vale ESC is a growing, Independent Public Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) school with a current enrolment of 54 children. We host one of the Autism Early Intervention programs for Kindy and Pre-primary students with Autism. The Centre is situated on a shared campus with Canning Vale Primary School located South East of Perth in the metropolitan area.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
