Non-Government School Regulation is seeking to appoint a highly motivated Risk and Compliance Principal Consultant to join our vibrant team, providing regulatory services assessing and monitoring that Independent and Catholic non-governments schools in Western Australia are safe places where students learn.

The successful applicant will provide strategic leadership in the research development and implementation of a contemporary risk- and evidence-based framework for compliance assessments of non-government schools. A key focus of the role will be to review school policies and procedures for managing risks such as those arising from concerns, critical incidents and challenging behaviours.
The successful applicant will also establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders to progress and monitor, where necessary, system improvement at the individual school level and across the Independent and Catholic school sectors.

Your written application will be assessed against the following Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated considerable experience in conceptualising, analysing and assessing risk in a complex environment and an ability to apply this in a school regulation context.
- Demonstrated proven ability to interpret, apply and provide advice on legislation and policy in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and undertaking complex evidence-based assessments and providing cogent reports and high-level advice.
- Demonstrated substantial experience in leading teams and the delivery of services, including the ability to contribute to the development of quality systems.
- Demonstrated high-level oral communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills and proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated high-level written communication skills, including experience in preparing reports and correspondence for a range of stakeholders and contexts.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
