The Role and our Branch
The Curriculum, Assessment and Strategic Policy Division is seeking to establish a pool of highly motivated and committed Copyright Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 year and up to the end of 2024 year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 year, up to the end of the 2024 year, in the Strategic and External Relations branch.

Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate and apply knowledge of the relevant areas of copyright legislation. They will possess the ability to engage with staff at all levels across the division, with diverse local/national/international copyright owners, and with intellectual property-related organisations and be able to prioritise multiple workload components within tight timelines.
The Copyright Officer will adhere to copyright compliance procedures and assist in the provision of accurate copyright information to division staff. The Copyright Officer will also identify opportunities to improve procedures and compliance.
The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) copyright team operates in a busy, stimulating, and challenging area. The work environment is a collaborative one requiring the applicant to be able to work as a part of a team. The School Curriculum and Standards Division provide quality curriculum, assessment and standards to enable all Western Australian students to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens who contribute positively to society.

- Considerable knowledge and understanding of copyright legislation, particularly the provisions relating to government use of copyright material.

- Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Well-developed computer processing skills, particularly in the use of databases to accurately manage large amounts of information.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
