Lakeland Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent, and enthusiastic English teacher to join their growing team.
The successful applicant should be highly effective in engaging and motivating students and creating an exciting learning environment. The successful applicant should have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment, where success is celebrated.
The successful applicant will ideally be able to reflect and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practice, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest. The successful applicant will work as part of a dedicated team to develop, review and deliver the English curriculum. The capacity to teach Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) courses and experience in leading other staff in the development of Year 7 to 12 English courses will be viewed favourably.
You should possess the professional knowledge, understandings, and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school English curriculum. The ability to differentiate curriculum and implement innovative approaches to improve outcomes for both high and low achieving students is a key element to this position. You should build positive relationships with your students and be passionate about creating positive futures for students, be performance driven and utilise evidence based decision making skills.
Lakeland SHS is an Independent Public School located in South Lake. The school caters for all students with a comprehensive range of courses and pathways to best meet the needs and interests of students. The school has high expectations of students and for success. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
