Provide professional and strategic support for WA’s public-school reviews
We are seeking two (2) dynamic and motivated individuals who will provide professional and strategic management support to the Directors, Public School Accountability. You will conduct research, prepare briefings and reports, provide quality assurance for a range of deliverables, and liaise with Departmental staff in relation to policies, procedures and operational matters.
We currently have two (2) permanent full time positions commencing March 2023.
The successful applicants will have strong oral and written communication skills and demonstrate the leadership skills and attributes necessary to support the efficient and effective operations of the Directorate.
With exceptional organisational skills, you will support corporate planning, decision making and reporting by providing data analysis, interpretation and consultancy services on trends and issues pertaining to Public School Reviews. You will conduct research and investigations to ensure issues and risks are efficiently and effectively managed, providing appropriate recommendations.
Through regular consultation, collaboration and negotiations with stakeholders you will manage and support the development of business plans and annual reports to achieve business outcomes and agreed service levels.
Our Branch
The Public School Accountability directorate has a specific role to conduct reviews to provide assurance that a school is operating effectively and delivering high-quality education to its students. Public School Reviews are conducted in all Western Australian public schools. School self-assessments are submitted electronically and considered by a review team comprised of a Director and a Principal peer reviewer. The review team conduct a school-based validation visit and a report is prepared reflecting the school's submission, planning intentions and confirming the review return timeframe. The Public School Accountability directorate also undertakes commissioned processes, such as targeted reviews.

Selection Criteria
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following selection criteria.
- Highly developed leadership, strategic planning and change management skills that demonstrate ability to coordinate, monitor, report and deliver strategic outcomes.
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical, research and investigation skills, including the ability to make recommendations and provide innovative solutions to strategic and complex problems and issues.
- Highly developed written communication skills and experience in the preparation of reports, speeches, briefings and correspondence.
- Highly developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively consult, collaborate and negotiate with stakeholders at a senior level.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of State, National and International trends, initiatives and developments that impact on the education sector.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
