This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full time position commencing Term 1, 2023
The Operational Initiative branch is currently seeking an enthusiastic and registered School Psychologist professional to work independently and in a team environment with the Schools Division.
The successful applicant will have high level oral, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team and with a range of internal and external clients. You will facilitate collaboration between the Lead School Psychologists, other Department staff as well as relevant external agencies to support planning for students with identified needs.
You will work collaboratively with other teams to build capacity and sustainability in schools for positive learning adjustment and wellbeing approaches using data and reflective practices and provide strategic advice on the management of issues to the Manager.
The Operational Initiatives branch is responsible for the management and implementation of strategic education programs that support schools and student outcomes. Typically, these programs involve partnership and liaison with the non-government school sectors, corporate and not-for-profit organisations in Western Australia. Delivery of support and services to public schools assisting them to implement these programs is a key responsibility of the Branch.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Demonstrated high-level knowledge and experience in providing specialist consultation, evidence-based assessment and interventions at a system level.
- Demonstrated highly developed skills in applying specialist knowledge and the development and evaluation of contemporary approaches and interventions.
- Demonstrated high-level ability to communicate and clarify complex concepts, provide feedback and critical evaluation of the management of complex and challenging issues.
- Demonstrated high-level strategic leadership skills and ability to build capacity, influence systemic policy and undertake interventions and prevention programs and assist schools to formulate and implement responses to address identified outcomes.
- Demonstrated high-level experience in coordinating specialised support and in providing appropriate professional learning to a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated high-level oral, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team and with a range of internal and external clients.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
- hold a suitable tertiary qualification in Education
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
