Appointment Pool
Queens Park Primary School (QPPS) is seeking to establish a pool of Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2025
Suitable applicants should be highly motivated, reflective teachers who seek out new opportunities, are focused on their own professional growth and have leadership qualities. They should be highly collaborative with a focus on implementing evidence-based practices, including an understanding of how learners learn and early development information, especially oral language development.
Suitable applicants should also possess a results-orientated focus and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to assist in interacting with students, parents, and colleagues.
It is highly desirable for applicants to have experience with English as an Additional Language (EAL/D) Learners as many early childhood students at QPPS are stage 1 EAL/D, with no previous English Experience. Applicants who have experience with students who may have an imputed disability, or a diagnosed disability will also have an advantage and are encouraged to apply.

Suitable applicants will ideally possess a strong knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum, genuinely plan for, and integrate Information Communication Technology (ICT) throughout the curriculum and who has a strong Inquiry Based learning focus, for our diverse student population (78% English as a Second Language Speaking Students).
Suitable applicants will be working in an environment committed to whole school approaches, self-reflection, and ongoing self-improvement. You will work alongside your Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Primary colleagues in collaborative teams for the continuous improvement of student outcomes, developing strong positive relationships with students and their parents, while maintaining high expectations for all students.
At QPPS, there is a strong embedded pastoral care culture where staff provide empathy, care and support to colleagues, students and families. The school has a strong focus on English as a Second Language (ESL) in the Mainstream, Promoting Alternate Thinking Strategies (PATHS) and Behaviour Management. With this in mind, it would be desirable for applicants to display how they can successfully engage all students, both academically and socially, within their written applications.
Early childhood has a strong Synthetics Phonics focus using the Sounds-Write program. Staff plan together and a genuine commitment to planning is part of the role.

QPPS School is an Independent Public School, with a student population of approximately 300 Kindergarten to Year 6 students from a diverse range of backgrounds. Centrally located between Welshpool Road and the Armadale Rail Line and approximately ten kilometres from the CBD, Queens Park PS was established in 1905 in a nearby community hall. It was relocated to its present site in 1906.
The staff are dedicated, compassionate professionals with a balance of recent graduates and experienced teachers. Teaching Staff and Allied Professionals are committed to providing high quality educational programs that are relevant to the individual learning needs of all students through curriculum differentiation, have high level experience and knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and whole school programs.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
