East Kimberley College is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Secondary Generalist Teacher to join our professional and highly committed team.

Teachers and school administrators employed at East Kimberley College in 2023 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $17,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

The Ideal Teacher
As a Secondary Generalist teacher, you will ideally possess the capacity to provide a learning environment that is caring and engaging. The successful applicant will ideally be able to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching. You should incorporate current and emerging technologies to best meet the needs of our students. Knowledge of, and the ability to use, high impact instruction that successfully engages students will be highly regarded.
The successful applicant will ideally engage in reflective practice, have a strong evidence-based teaching philosophy and be committed to adopt whole-school pedagogical approaches. You should have high expectations and display a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment using a ‘restorative’ approach that focuses on building social and emotional learning competencies.
Our School
East Kimberley College is one of the largest Kindergarten to Year 12 schools in the State with approximately 850 students enrolled. With almost 48% of enrolments being indigenous, it also has the largest enrolment of Aboriginal students at any school in the State. The College offers all that one would expect in a larger metropolitan school, yet has that unique friendly atmosphere typical of a rural community.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
