The Role and our Branch
The Principal Consultant – English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) Year 7 to Year 12 - Curriculum and Assessment will in relation to the EAL/D Learning area develop and review curriculum and assessment to support implementation of the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline (Outline) and WACE. The successful applicant will monitor and review the implementation and delivery of curriculum, courses and course standards, projects and programs whilst implementing moderation activities to ensure comparability of standards both state wide and with overseas schools delivering, in particular the Western Australian Senior Schooling EAL/D curricula. You will provide high-level curriculum expertise in producing quality ATAR course examinations and marking keys whilst providing executive support for advisory committees.

The successful applicant will provide high-level advice at a State and national level and input into curriculum development and assessment whilst organising, facilitating and coordinating information sessions for staff from schools, regions (including international), professional associations and school systems sector.

- Demonstrated high-level knowledge of curriculum and assessment in the context of the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline, the WACE, ATAR course examinations, performance monitoring and review.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
