Pinjarra Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a collaborative and enthusiastic Home Economics teacher to join our school.
We are seeking a teacher who is passionate about learning and the opportunities it provides for young people. As such, the successful applicant will ideally be passionate about teaching Home Economics and possess a commitment to excellence in their delivery.
The successful applicant should have high standards of professionalism and embrace opportunities for collaboration within and beyond the school community. The ability to work positively and effectively in teams and be open to new thinking is highly desirable.
Since 1921, Pinjarra SHS has proudly served the community of Pinjarra and its surrounding region. The school provides a blend of traditional and innovative programs designed to prepare students from year 7 – 12 for higher education, vocational training and employment. Pinjarra SHS has a clear focus on High Quality Teaching to facilitate engaged and purposeful learning for all students. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
