Baldivis Secondary College (SC) is seeking a highly professional, passionate and innovative Home Economics Teacher to join our dynamic College community.
We are seeking a teacher who is passionate about language learning and the opportunities it provides for young people. As such, the successful applicant will ideally be passionate about teaching Home Economics and possess a commitment to excellence in their delivery.
A commitment to personal and professional growth, instructional coaching, observation and feedback are a priority for the college and therefore we are seeking a teacher that will ideally have a growth mindset and a desire for continuous improvement. The successful applicant should have high standards of professionalism and embrace opportunities for collaboration within and beyond the college community. The ability to work positively and effectively in teams and be open to new thinking is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will ideally be able to provide innovative teaching and learning programs that nurture and inspire students. As an expert practitioner you should possess a commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self-reflection. Another key attribute is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs.
The successful applicant will ideally be someone who places high emphasis on parent partnerships and desires to communicate with parents regularly throughout the year. We are seeking highly organised people who have good communication skills, are solution focussed and want to contribute to the entire college community.
We use the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) instructional system as the catalyst for developing a school culture that closes the expectation and opportunity gaps many students face, ensures that all students achieve personal success in their learning and prepares all students for success in a global society. All staff are expected to embrace AVID as part of their instructional practice.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
