Nulsen Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a dynamic, collaborative, and enthusiastic Year 5/6 Teacher for the 2023 school year.

About the Role
The school is focused on embedding evidence-based practices for teaching and learning and the successful applicant should be able to display their high-quality teaching skills and how they impact student achievement. You should implement effective, innovative, and engaging learning programs and work collaboratively with staff to apply whole school approaches for curriculum delivery. The successful applicant will ideally have a strong knowledge of explicit teaching philosophy and its application.

The successful applicant will ideally be an outstanding classroom practitioner who can enhance current school practices. The successful applicant will be committed to making a difference in the lives of our students, be a highly skilled and motivated educator with a passion for teaching and have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum.
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and parents is important. The committed teaching staff is aware of the nature of the local community and endeavours to adapt the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of the students and focus on developing the emotional health and wellbeing of students.
The successful applicant will ideally have skills and abilities in:
- Collaborative planning and assessment moderation with a shared aim to provide quality learning experiences for students.
- Differentiating to engage and extend across a range of students.
- Using and interpreting data to inform classroom practice and wellbeing interventions.
- Effective classroom management skills and an understanding of Trauma-Informed Practices to provide the best supports for students and their families.
- Leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to maximise learning, including an understanding of the SAMR model.
- Implementing the Science of Reading approach in Literacy; utilising Sounds Write in Junior Primary, PLD in Upper Primary and Talk 4 Writing.
- Embedding culturally responsive approaches across all areas of learning through Noongar Language and the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
