Appointment Pool
Service Allocation, Prioritisation and Coordination is seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic, dedicated and qualified Social Workers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2023.
The Role and our Branch
Are you passionate about making a difference and improving outcomes for students? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated and dynamic team of specialists who work together to improve outcomes for students experiencing challenges with their health, behaviour, and engagement in schooling.
In this role you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing support for the students in most need in public schools. The successful applicants will join the Complex Support Team to work collaboratively with families, schools and education regions to reduce the complexities impacting students most in need and supporting them to better engage with their learning. Responsibilities include undertaking social work assessments, case formulations and interventions of referred students and their families. The work will include home visits and travel to regional areas, as the team provides direct support to young people across Western Australia.
We encourage all applicants with diverse professional experiences to apply.
Statewide Services provides services and supports required by schools to enable student achievement and educational outcomes, with a focus on those students and schools that need it most. Schools and Regions can submit a Request for Assistance to access support from Statewide Services for students with complex needs. For example, schools can access support for students who may be experiencing a range of challenges with their mental health, disability, behaviour and engagement in schooling, and require a coordinated approach across a range of services.
The Service Allocation, Prioritisation and Coordination branch is part of the Service Planning and Coordination directorate which enables the delivery of integrated services supporting schools to improve student achievement and educational outcomes, accessing subject matter experts as required. It also coordinates the provision of system wide ancillary services and programs that complement and support student achievement.
Social Workers support referred students and their families, through short-term intervention, to address barriers preventing successful engagement with external services, and may broker access to these services as appropriate. External services may include National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and their providers, mental health services, and a range of Government Departments and Non-Government Organisations. Social Workers utilise effective communication skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan and deliver culturally responsive support to students and their families to improve student outcomes in education.
