This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, part-time (0.4FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2023
Westminster Primary School (PS) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher Primary Health and Physical Education (HPE) Teacher.
The successful applicant would be responsible for working in a shared collaborative role to provide a strong and vibrant PE and Sports program for all year levels from Pre-Primary to Year 6, consistent with the Western Australian Curriculum Health and PE Requirements. This includes demonstrating quality instructional teaching, assessment and reporting practices consistent with Departmental and school methodology.
The successful applicant will also lead the Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country, and Winter Summer Sports; prepare, manage, and lead School and Interschool events in consultation with WPS staff and the Swan West Network teachers’ group. The school historically participates in various carnivals and events throughout the year with wonderful support from the school community who greatly value the opportunities provided to their children.
The successful applicant will also work collaboratively with teachers and administration staff to prepare cost centre budgets and manage organisational tasks, such as planning, communications, arranging transport to and from events, follow excursion policy and procedures, liaise with parents regarding permission and support. The school values reflective and constructive feedback on future directions and decision making that enhances the PE and Sports program.
The successful applicant should also have excellent interpersonal skills to enable them to work closely with students, our dedicated staff and very supportive parents. A background in sports and leisure activities would be advantageous.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
