Samson Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of innovative and motivated teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
The suitable applicants will ideally have a strong knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum structure and content, as well as a focus on differentiating the curriculum to cater for K-6 students. You will be highly motivated and committed to creating an effective, engaging, inclusive and innovative learning environment; based on high accountability and expectations to ensure all students are achieving their maximum potential. The suitable applicants will ideally be highly organised and have good communication skills in order to follow school initiatives. Applicants will be looked upon favourably who can demonstrate an understanding of explicit teaching and structured lesson design which incorporates a series of clear steps and transitions between them, and scaffolds learning to build students’ knowledge and skills.
At Samson PS, the teaching/learning program is effectively maintained by an experienced, capable staff, most of whom have attained 'Senior Teacher' status. The social and emotional development of students is given high priority through the teaching of virtues (values). Technology is used extensively as a tool to support the teaching/learning program with Interactive Whiteboards in all primary classes. The school is fully networked with 16 desk top computers housed in the library, with four desk top computers in each of the 11 classrooms.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Applicants currently completing the Department of Education Leap program (formerly known as the Switch program) can apply for vacancies using their current or Leap qualification – even if they have not completed the program at the time of applying. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
