Aveley Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) teacher to join our friendly team.
The successful applicant would ideally possess excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and possess the ability to deliver content in an engaging manner. The successful applicant should be flexible, willing to work collaboratively with staff and possess strong interpersonal skills to allow connection within the school community to achieve the best outcomes for all students.
To be successful you should possess the professional knowledge, understandings, and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school HASS curriculum. The successful applicant will ideally have experience in teaching upper school general courses and possess strong skills and experience in teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
The ability to differentiate curriculum and implement innovative approaches to improve outcomes for both high and low achieving students is a key element to this position. We are looking for a HASS Teacher with strong teaching and classroom management skills, and who can develop good relationships with all students and engage them in highly effective learning.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
