Manjimup Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and proactive advisory teacher for our Big Picture campus.
The successful applicant will teach Year 9 to 12 students at our off site Big Picture campus. The students have various learning needs and interests. The Big Picture design is used to shape the curriculum and most students also attend one or two courses at the Manjimup SHS main campus. Training in the Big Picture design will be provided and a coach will support you throughout the year. Big Picture focuses on the individual student and learning is Project based, connected to internships and exhibitions. The position requires the teacher to assist students to design rigorous learning plans, provide links with external agencies or employers and to develop partnerships with families and/or carers.
Sound management and organisational skills, the capacity to develop rapport and an ability to encourage and challenge students are a strong focus for this position. The successful applicant will be required to analyse student progress, review programmes, participate in Professional Learning and connect with other Big Picture schools. Ideally candidates should have recent and relevant experience in teaching students who struggle to engage with conventional schooling. Applicants will ideally possess the capacity to broaden the educational experience of their students including involvement in learning opportunities outside the classroom.
Manjimup SHS is a Year 7 to 12 Independent Public School. It has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and a committed and highly competent workforce. Established in 1957 the school is recognised for its high achievement and flexible approach to education and training. Manjimup SHS is the only Senior High School in the inland corridor of the Southwest Education Region. The school is part of the multi-purpose campus comprising Manjimup Primary School, Manjimup Education Support Centre, Manjimup Campus of Technical and Further Education (TAFE) and it has a partnership with Edith Cowan University.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
