This is a permanent part-time (0.9FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2023.
Gilmore College is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Technician – Arts to join their friendly and welcoming Arts Department.
As the Arts Technician your duties will include preparing the classroom, studio/theatre and workshop to enable the teachers to instruct students effectively. Preparing specialised equipment and materials and providing operational advice for Arts workshops/classes/productions and other college events. You will also be responsible for the design and construction of teaching aids to meet curriculum standards that support teaching and curriculum requirements.
The Arts Technician will also work collaboratively as part of a production team, to assist in the operation of college and community events including assemblies, performances, exhibitions, screenings and promotional events. They will work with set budgets, monitor expenditure and provide advice as required along with stock management tasks including the coordination of stocktake activities and resource registers.
Gilmore College is an Independent public school which opened in 2008 continuing 52 previous years of secondary education provided by Kwinana Senior High School. The school continues the education of students from within the City of Kwinana area primary schools.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Knowledge, skills and experience in the operation of technical/industrial equipment within an Arts workshop/class or similar environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Western Australian Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 and its coverage in industrial environments.
- Good communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels.
- Effective time management, planning and organisational skills

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
