This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2023 with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency
Swan View Senior High School (SHS) are ideally seeking a flexible and reflective teacher, with specialist knowledge and skills related to students with mild to moderate disability, including Intellectual Disability (ID) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The successful applicant should be able to manage class teams and liaise with parents and therapists to meet the educational and care needs of the students. The successful applicant will ideally have experience in developing, implementing and reviewing meaningful and appropriate Individual Education Plans that not only outline functional curriculum objectives but support the whole child through targeted social-emotional skills, life skills and Protective Behaviours curriculum. Knowledge of Special Education Need Reporting to Parents (SEN-RTP), Abilities Based Learning Education, Western Australia (ABLEWA) and Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) is desirable.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
