Kulin District High School (DHS) is seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic High School Teacher – Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) and English teacher to join their collaborative and positive team.
The successful applicant will ideally display the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant curriculum using a positive, student-focused approach, and ideally be able to showcase success working with students across a range of ability levels. Strong use of communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a willingness to liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks to establish strong community partnerships, is highly regarded. The successful applicant will be relationship focused with a consistent and transparent classroom management approach. They will be enthusiastic, seek opportunities for innovation and leadership, and should have the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Kulin DHS caters for students from Kindergarten to year 10 and is located in the Central Wheatbelt, just over 100kms east of Narrogin. A large number of the students live on farms and travel to school on one of the six buses that service the area. Many of the secondary students who graduate from Kondinin Primary School also attend Kulin DHS maintaining stable numbers in the high school. The school is well resourced with facilities that include an information technology centre, science laboratory, an engineering and technology centre, home economics, art and library rooms.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
