Roseworth Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2023.
Suitable applicants will be committed to making a difference in the lives of young people. They should be motivated, practical, hardworking, innovative and possess outstanding interpersonal skills. Suitable applicants will pursue excellence in classroom teaching, in particular when working with students with high needs. Suitable applicants will make student achievement the core of their work. Additionally, a positive attitude and an appetite for challenge are desired. You should also possess excellent classroom practice, focusing on innovation and classroom management based on positive partnerships between students, education assistants, teachers, and parents.
We teach students from Kindergarten to Year 6. We are a Level 3 facility catering for students with diagnosed disabilities, such as Intellectual Disability, High Needs Autism and Trisomy 21.
It is highly desirable that the suitable applicants will have experience in teaching in an Education Support Setting with experience in AAC. You will also be highly skilled in planning, organising and implementing engaging programs (i.e. IEPs, GEPs, IBSP, RMP's)
It will also be advantageous for the suitable applicant to have the ability to cope well with frequent unpredictability and flexible enough to adapt to the changing needs of the students. You will have a strong team spirit and ability to collaborate with all staff members. Be highly proficient in ABA, DTT, DI, and TEACCH.
We are on the same site as Roseworth Primary School in Girrawheen and offer a range of modern facilities including a covered outdoor playground/classroom that can be used in all weather. This is a great space to teach ply and social skills. We also have a Sensory Room where the students can work on aspects of their Sensory Profile.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
