Mindarie Senior College is seeking two inspiring and innovative leaders to join our leadership team in the positions of Associate Principal.
We currently have the following positions available:
- 2x - permanent full-time positions
Both positions will commence Term 1, 2023
As Associate Principals, each will work closely with the Principal and members of the executive team to provide educational leadership in the College and the community. They will have a key leadership role in teaching and learning and will be responsible for delivering strategies and targets outlined in the focus areas within the College's Business Plan. Each member of the Executive Team has a focus on student engagement and behaviour and contributes to the continuation of a positive College culture of high expectations and success for all students in a range of pathways.
Both roles will have instructional leadership of Managers of Learning Areas as they lead their teams in the implementation of contemporary face to face and digital pedagogies and high impact teaching strategies. Both Associate Principals will lead the management of a designated year group.
The successful applicants will ideally be highly motivated, energetic and possess the personal attributes for leadership needed to bring people together, identify opportunities and establish new initiatives. They will ideally display effective communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop and maintain positive partnerships and to collaborate effectively with others to obtain the best outcomes from all, whilst modelling and promoting the College's vision and core values to develop a staff culture dedicated to the success of all students
A focus on high quality teaching and building positive relationships in an inclusive learning environment that encourages students to take ownership of their own learning in a senior college environment is critical to these leadership roles
- The Associate Principal - Strategy and Innovation will be central building on the College’s strong culture of self-review and development, playing a leading role in the establishment, monitoring and review of the Business plan. They will coordinate and review all College policies and procedures including leading the Positive Behaviour and Student Wellbeing Plans in coordination with the Manager of Student Services. They will also oversee the professional learning plan, coaching strategy, instructional leadership (including classroom walkthroughs and peer-based observation) with the Professional Learning Coordinator. In this role they will lead the Digital Learning Strategy including the management and coordination of the Information and Communication Technologies throughout the College in collaboration with the Digital Learning Coordinator including leading the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program to be implemented in 2023.
- The Associate Principal - Student Achievement will be responsible for ensuring all students are on productive and meaningful pathways to their lives post school. This will include managing all aspects of the students’ journey through the College including enrolments, timetabling, assessment, moderation, human resource management, and staff selection processes and reporting requirements.
This role will work closely with the Manager of Student Studies to ensure that all students are working to their full potential through ongoing monitoring at the student, class and course levels. They are responsible for the setting of and reporting against achievement targets in the College Business Plan and with collaboration with the Manager of Careers and VET and Endorsed programs in the College.
As a senior college with Year 11 and 12 students, it is highly advantageous to have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Certificate of Education, Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment, Student Achievement Information System and Student Attendance Reporting platforms. A working knowledge of SEQTA would also be an advantage.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g., Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.

- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
