Appointment Pool
West Greenwood Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of K-6 Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
We are seeking applicants who are collaborative, highly motivated, supportive of whole school processes and committed to ongoing professional growth and development. Ideally, the successful applicant will be committed to putting students first in their decision-making and undertaking the hard work that is inherent in delivering a motivating and quality educational program. They should believe that exemplary, evidence-based teaching practices with tiered curriculum differentiation leads to successful students and high standards of achievement and progression. The successful applicant will ideally be confident in the use of digital technologies across the curriculum to enhance student outcomes and be innovative and contemporary in their practices. They should possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and commit to working collaboratively in a team environment. Applicants should also value kindness and care as the underlying approach to building student and staff relationships.
Outstanding classroom management, the ability to develop rapport and motivate students, differentiate curriculum to cater for individual student needs, and to practise a range of teaching strategies are key aspects of this position.
Whole school approaches include, but are not limited to, explicit teaching, a synthetic approach to phonics based on the Sounds Write program, Talk for Writing, Seven Steps for Writing Success, Brightpath, a hands-on approach to mathematics teaching and learning and the Zones of Regulation.
West Greenwood PS is a Level 5 primary school with approximately 460 students. Our specialist programs include Japanese, Science, Music and Phys Ed. We enjoy a close, and productive relationship with Greenwood College and the wider community, and have an active and School Board and very committed P&C.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Applicants currently completing the Department of Education Leap program (formerly known as the Switch program) can apply for vacancies using their current or Leap qualification – even if they have not completed the program at the time of applying. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
