Broome North Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint an experienced Deputy Principal committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for our students. We seek a high calibre leader with strong team skills as you will work in close collaboration with the Principal, other members of the school leadership team, staff and students.
You will ideally have quality, recent skills and experience in the application of elements of Department of Education (DoE) and school system administration in key platforms such as Reporting to Parents, Census, National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN), Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD), National Quality Standard (NQS), Australian Early Development Census (AEDC), On Entry and Department of Education Disability Resourcing System (DRS) and school self-review processes.
The successful applicant will have a role in managing the Early Childhood Education cohort and as such, will ideally have included examples of recent quality experience in managing curriculum alignment, parental engagement, Students at Educational Risk and Special Educational Needs strategies, successful Pastoral Care and Behaviour Management processes, ability to manage mandated Department policies as well as experiences and skills in engagement with allied agencies and key stakeholders.
You will have a role in maintaining a focus on the effective student learning and student achievement for this cohort and it is highly desirable that you have an understanding of the implementation of models of Explicit Instruction and the use of quality data. Skills in staff engagement with a focus upon successful experience and outcomes in staff Performance Management processes within an Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership framework are highly desirable. We are looking for someone who has a clear understanding of our school profile and ideally has a capacity to work effectively across the socio economic and cultural spectrum, particularly in relation to the education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and disadvantaged students.
You will ideally be highly organised with effective planning and project management skills as this role involves the support and/or overseeing of activities such as assemblies, carnival and event planning and excursions and incursions. You will also assume a key role in liaising with the School Board and Parent and Citizens Association.
Broome North PS is an Independent Public School that caters for children from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school, opened in 2015, is a modern facility located on Yawuru land in the coastal town of Broome, part of Western Australia's stunning Kimberley region.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
